7th Bead Soup Blog Party

What a wonderful day for a party.
But......
I am no longer a wall flower at this party, girls!
I took the plunge and decided to join the
7th Bead Soup Blog Party.

Our lovely hostess, Lori Anderson,
of
gets a bunch of bead loving people together
(541 this time)
to be paired up and swap bead soups.
My partner for this reveal is Lori.

Here is the soup she sent me.

I love the colors of the beads.
I knew immediately what I wanted to do with
the silver rings and clasp.
The focal is amazing.
But what to do with it???

The first thing I did was set the focal to the side,
because quite frankly
I had absolutely no clue what to do with it.
One thing I did know was that I did not want to just use it
for a necklace.

I had these pink beads for some time now
and figured these would
make a great necklace along with the
rings and then use the clasp.

At each end of the pink beads I put a white seed bead and one of the spacers.
Then hooked them together with the larger rings.
Here's how it came out....

Of course I made a pair of earrings to go along with it.

Now back to the focal...
*sigh*
I wanted to try wire crocheting,
so I took the pink and blue crystals and
started in.
I wrapped the wire to attach it to the focal
and
waaaala.
I made a bracelet with it.
I am still not 100 on the bracelet,
because the focal is kinda heavy for the wire size I used.
Oops!

I did not get to make anything with the
white round rings,
but I will work on it and post at another time.

I want to thank Lori for the soup and for hosting
this wonderful party.
Make sure to check out what everyone else made.

Happy Earth Day and a Sale

Happy Earth Day!
*Valdearenas Beach, Cantabria Spain*

I really love Earth Day.
Celebrating the magic and beauty of the world.
Bringing awareness to people that if we do not start to take care
of this beautiful planet,
things are going to change.
But I also hope it helps people realize
that we need to do all we can every day.
Not just one day a year.

One way to help out is to click on the Help the Rain forest icon
on the upper left hand corner.
It is free and only takes a minute of your time.

As for my family and I,
we recycle EVERYTHING.
What I can not recycle
I try to find ways to reuse it.
We could fill a large garbage container last year.
This year, the garbage men are lucky if we can fill it a third of the way.
(Unless we do a spring cleaning, but even then it is not full)

Here is a site that I find very useful and informative.

Here are a few ways we reduce our garbage.

1. We made a compost pile in the backyard.
2. Planted a garden
3. I reuse all the plastic veggie or meat bags that we get.
4. We reuse the meat trays for craft projects or even to substitute as a plate.
5. I love using cloth bags at the store.
6. We utilize all the thrift shops in our area.
7. I like to reuse old ketchup or mustard bottles to use for homemade sauces or dressings.
8. No aresol is used in our home.
9. Old clothing that can not be given to a thrift shop, is turned into rags to use for cleaning
and I even use the material for certain craft projects.
10.  RECYCLE, RECYCLE, RECYCLE.

Putting all tin cans, plastics, junk mail, magazines, phone books, and any other recycle item
will reduce the amount of trash you throw away.

What are some ways you reduce, reuse or recycle?
I am always looking for new tips and tricks.

To celebrate Earth Day,
I am having a sale.
All you have to do is visit my fb page
and click on the Etsy store tab at the top.
This will give you your discount of 20%

Have a beautiful day!!

Happy Sunday everyone.
I am going to try to blog at least 3 times a week,
unless more things happen.
Then you are going to want me to slow down again. LOL

Friday afternoon my darling daughter went into labor.
She was pregnant with our 4th grandson =)
She delivered (quite quickly)
at 4:50 am.
So it is my pleasure to introduce you all to my
baby boy
Xzalien Vikktor Avalos
pronounce
X-Zay-Lien.

He is soo precious and was very alert when he came into the world.
The delivery was full of first for us this time around.
My daughter had to be catherized,
she only pushed for about 6 minutes 0.o
and the father passed out while they were putting the
epidural in.

So congrats to Mandyy and Phillip on the birth of their beautiful
7 lb. 1 oz baby boy Xzalien.

Now for the do over....
There is a blog hop going on today.
Go check it out and see all the amazing designs.
If you want to join in the next one,

Bead Soup on a Hot Day.... Maybe

What a beautiful couple of days we have had here in Fresno.
The sun is shining, the birds are singing
and soup is on.
Bead Soup that is.
You know, the kind with focals, beads and clasps
mixed with some fibers, findings
and friends.
Over 500+ friends to be exact.
with 3 reveal dates.
Mine just happened to be in the second reveal,
but I had issues that were beyond my
control and
I am not ready to reveal just yet.
But, since I just received my soup last week
let me introduce you to my partner and soup.

I was lucky enough to be paired with the amazing

Here is the soup she sent me.

This is my first time in the hop.
I have only been making jewelry for about a year.
So I hope when it is time to show my work you will like it.
Here is the link for the 2nd reveal list of blogs.

See you next week with my finished pieces!
