We're All Ears ::March Challenge :: Leaping Greenly

With most of the U.S under snow, Erin from Earrings Everyday
wants to see our greenly creations for the return of Spring.
I am not one for working with green so this is a challenge for me.
But I was able to get three pairs created.

This is a blog hop, so make sure to check out earrings everyday
to see what everyone else has created.

Have a great weekend!!

Happy Ground Hog's Day and the Friday Fav

Happy Friday Everyone!
It seems like the weeks are just flying by.

Ground Hog's Day seems to have given us 6 more weeks of winter.
Blech!
But I think we are safe here in California.
Last night at 7 pm it was still 60 out.

Today's Friday Fav is a beautiful Starfish bracelet that is made with
some recycled glass, silver spaces and a fun Starfish connector.
It is marked down for the weekend...
& if you purchase this bracelet this weekend,
you will receive a FREE pair of matching earrings.
You can find it here

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

Dollar Tree Find & Craft

It's Friday!!
I hope you all had a wonderful week.
I really did. Lots of prayers being answered for my family, which has
relieved a lot of stress.
Thank you Jesus!

So, one of my favorite stores is Dollar Tree.
I found some great fuzzy string, as my granddaughter Avy calls it.

Instantly I knew I wanted to use this for covers for my Nook & Fire.
I did not want them to both be the same colors so I decided to make one purple and the other green.
I really love how they came out.
So this year I am making these for Christmas in July gifts for my girls.

Here is the Nook cover

And the Fire

I had a little bit of both left so I decided to use some of the fiber in a design I created to make the
Jellyfish Candy Earrings.
I am putting these in my etsy today.  I really love how they came out.
You can check them out here

Tonight we are going to the Crest Theater to watch a screening of
Batman Forever.
My favorite Batman is Michael Keaton.
A little history on the Crest Theater.
It was a popular spot back before the 80's.
Mel Brooks use to own the historic theater.
A group here in Fresno wants to restore it.  It is gorgeous.
So in order to raise money for the restoration, they show all types of movies.
I will definitely take some photos to share.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Have fun!

Artisan Whimsy 5 x 5 Test Group :: Sea Glass

The 5 x 5 Test Group in Artisan Whimsy
tested the Beach Glass Beads  from ZnetShows.
This is the set Bill sent me

I decided I wanted to make a bracelet and try to use one of the
turquoise beads as a clasp..
Epic Fail..
But what it did turn out was a pair of earrings

and this bracelet, which I took some seed beads and
strung them. Then twisted each strand.
I added a sand dollar charm to it.

I then took the green fish bone beads
and pair them up with some glass chips and
bronze chain to make this bracelet.

Next were the long green duo that I knew were going to make
earrings.
I took a link from the bronze chain and added some
briolettes.

I still have the smaller white duo and the shells
that I just ran out of time to create anything.  But I will get it done within the next few days and
post my results.

Have a great weekend.

The Summer Elements Blog Hop

Summer time is my favorite time of the year.
Not only does school get out for the break, but
it is time for hot weather, pool days,
beach play and road trips.
Rita of Toltec Jewels and Jewel School Friends
put out a call for The Summer Elements Blog Hop
and I knew I wanted to join in.

Growing up summer meant road trips.
Whether it was the Redwoods for a car run, panning for gold
in Colma, CA or spending a week in Yosemite,
my mom always made sure that we did something as a family.
I think that is what I loved about growing up.

But now, summer for us means spending time as a family, BBQing
and just enjoying the time we have together.

Summer almost means toe rings, anklets and cool bracelets.
Here are a few pieces I made for this summer.

I don't normally make necklaces and when I do
I love long long ones.

I made this bracelet for a summer dress a friend made for me.
She just sent it out, but when it gets here I will def post
some pics.

And then this last one to go with a top my daughter got me for
Mother's Day....

Well that is it..
I am going to pour me a glass of Cantaloupe water
and start to hop.
Thanks Rita for such a fun hop.

Here is a list of the other participants..
So grab a cold one of whatever you may like to drink
and enjoy the fun.

Focus on Life ::Green::

I really wanted to share a cute holder my son made a few years back
but thought... Mischelle you have not dusted and it
WILL show up in the photo.
Oh well.. hahahhaa
I decided to share anyways

Then my grandson ended up in the pool and the grass
was looking a lot greener.

And then I remembered my pride and joy I had snagged from my mom
the last time I was at her house.

Have a great weekend!

Sequintastic:: The Reveal

Finally I am back on the net.  I had been away for a bit (2 weeks) and was hoping that I would make it in time
to do the blog hop and guess what??  I did =)
Sarah from Saturday Sequins is hosting her first blog hop.
I love crafting and stuff and really have not gotten a chance to make anything revolving sequins.
I had been wanting to make some ornaments for Christmas for a while now.
The templates I made are not exactly what I envisioned, but they came out great.
I am still working on a few of them, so I will be posting the ones I finished.
I decided to make snowflakes and Christmas trees.
Here are the flakes

I loved the silver but wanted to switch it up with some color...
This resulted in.......

All together....

I was not sure if I liked the red back ground, and being a newbie still to the whole
photo taking scene, I changed it up a bit and tried the white background.

Ugh..... too dark.
I guess more practicing is in my future.. lol
Now for my trees, because I don't want to leave them out....

I just need to add the sequins and I will update those looks hopefully tomorrow or Monday.
So that is what I did with the sequins...
Here is a list of everyone who joined in the fun.

Have a great weekend..

Challenge of Travel Blog Hop

The Island of Samoa

When I think of Samoa, I automatically think of WWE wrestling.. LOL
Seriously.. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Samoa Joe, Umaga
But after reading  a bit, I found that the people are very giving people and love to
use a lot of coral, abalone, tortoise shell and mother of pearl when making just about anything.
Here is what I came up with.

(My photos do not do them justice.. Something I need to work on)

The Link Challenge..... The Reveal

It is finally here.... Reveal day.
I have been ready for weeks && am glad I finally get to show what I came
up with.
To get everyone up to date on what we were to do,
Peggy from The Charm Barn
sent us 20 links.
Some of us got black and some a tortoise color.
I got black.

Here is what I came up with

I first wanted to come up with some type of pendant.  So I wire wrap a piece of sea glass and then used one of the links to be used to attach to either some ribbon or whatever you would chose.

After I made this.

I wanted to make a bracelet but not have it connect like the links were meant to.So I grabbed some black wire and decided to add the green beads & this is what I came up with.  I made a clasp outta the links and with some wrapped wire.
Here is another shot of the bracelet.

Here is a list of the other blogs who have joined in the fun...
Make sure to go to The Charm Barn to vote for your favs.
(Because my son was attack by a dog, I was late posting this, so my entries will not be
entered...)
