Dia de Los Muertos

Every first Thursday of the month, we have an art hop here in Fresno.
Every month is themed and Novembers is
Dia de Los Muertos!

I love this theme for several reasons, but the top reason would definitely be
the colors.  So bright and vibrant.
Plus, who doesn't like sugar skulls.

I won this lampwork bead in a contest a few years back and was saving it
for some reason.
And when I wanted to have my outfit match the art hop,
I knew I needed to use this bead.

I had a huge bag of seed beads in various sizes and colors.
They just matched the skull bead perfectly.
Here is what I came up with...

I also made an eight strand wrap bracelet to match.
I think it is safe to say I will not be working with seed beads any time soon. lol

Have a blessed day y'all!

Dollar Tree Find & Craft

It's Friday!!
I hope you all had a wonderful week.
I really did. Lots of prayers being answered for my family, which has
relieved a lot of stress.
Thank you Jesus!

So, one of my favorite stores is Dollar Tree.
I found some great fuzzy string, as my granddaughter Avy calls it.

Instantly I knew I wanted to use this for covers for my Nook & Fire.
I did not want them to both be the same colors so I decided to make one purple and the other green.
I really love how they came out.
So this year I am making these for Christmas in July gifts for my girls.

Here is the Nook cover

And the Fire

I had a little bit of both left so I decided to use some of the fiber in a design I created to make the
Jellyfish Candy Earrings.
I am putting these in my etsy today.  I really love how they came out.
You can check them out here

Tonight we are going to the Crest Theater to watch a screening of
Batman Forever.
My favorite Batman is Michael Keaton.
A little history on the Crest Theater.
It was a popular spot back before the 80's.
Mel Brooks use to own the historic theater.
A group here in Fresno wants to restore it.  It is gorgeous.
So in order to raise money for the restoration, they show all types of movies.
I will definitely take some photos to share.

What are your plans for this weekend?

Have fun!

Kid's Day March 3, 2015 & National Pancake Day Fundraiser

It's that time of the year again
where we celebrate
Kid's Day!

Kid's Day is special to my family because when my youngest son
Deondre was 9 months old he was hospitalized for 10 days.
Valley Children's staff was amazing with him.
They saved his life and I am forever grateful.
I normally would give $6 because I have 6 kids,
but now with the additions of the grandies,
I am upping my donation to $12.

Thousands of volunteers from all over the Valley will be collecting
donations on almost every street corner in
Fresno, Tulare, Madera, Kings, Merced and Mariposa counties.

This years goal is to raise over $530,000
(which was raised last year)
for the non profit Valley Children's Hospital.

$1 will get you the Kid's Day Special Edition with coupons
and articles such as:
• A look at a father and daughter who have both been treated at Valley Children’s Hospital. Years ago, the dad lost a leg to bone cancer, but his time recuperating at the hospital was so positive he decided to go into the medical profession and now works at the facility.
• The hospital’s Neonatal Intensive Care unit is a Level IV, the highest ranking for any such facility. That means the hospital can take care of any medical situation with newborns except doing transplants.
• A team of Home Care department therapists, nurses and others hit the road to visit patients in their homes.
• Child Life specialists, assistants and volunteers work as liaisons between medical staff and patients.
• The hospital’s imaging department has MRI machines now with SensaVue screens that enable patients to view a video during an exam.
• Neymar and his parents, Viviana and Juan Mendez, are this year’s official ambassadors for the hospital. Despite numerous medical problems, the family remains upbeat and optimistic because of the treatment Neymar has received.

If for some reason you do not see a volunteer,
you can also text GEORGE to 90999
to make a $5 donation.
